50th Reunion Gift

At our 50th Reunion, the Class of 1957 provided the Academy a gift of $650,000 to support the completion of Jefferson Hall, the new Cadet Library, and to provide an endowment for maintenance of our previous Class gifts.

The new Cadet Library, Jefferson Hall, which will be located on the current site of Patton’s Statue and the Library Tennis Courts. On completion of the new building in 2007, the "old" Library (completed in 1964) will be used for archives, special collections and other academic purposes.

To ensure that Library construction and support meet the highest standards, the Academy sought class gifts to provide the additional and essential margin of excellence, which has become the bedrock goal of all alumni giving. Recent increases in the price of steel and cement, coupled with a Congressional cap on Library costs make gifts all the more essential to achieving the goal of constructing a truly first-class library facility. The Class gift provides funds for needed equipment, higher quality finishes in important areas of the building, a third floor Honor Kiosk (with explanatory information) and sponsorship of the main floor Coffee Bar.

The coffee bar, operated by Cadet Activities, will be located on the first floor, just inside the entrance. The Honor Kiosk will be located on the third floor.

50 Year Class Affiliation Program

In 2004, the Class provided the class flag for the Class of 2007 as part of the 50-year class affiliation program. At the 45th Reunion we agreed to provide an additional $10,000 to the Academy to provide gold Second Lieutenant Bars to the members of the Class of 2007 at their graduation ceremony.

45th Reunion Gift

In 2002, the Class supported the 4-class improvement of Thayer Road in the barracks area, now called Thayer Walk (below), and the construction of the Honor Plaza at the north end of Thayer Walk. The Honor Plaza, has taken on special significance within the Corps both as a monument to the Honor Code and as allocation proudly shown by cadets to their visitors. The Plaza is frequently used as the ideal location to discuss the honor code with official foreign visitors. The Honor Kiosk will complement and extend the Class of 1957’s support of Honor at West Point.

In 1992, we planted a Class Tree in the front yard of "Marty Maher’s Quarters," located near Trophy Point.

30th Reunion Gift

In 1987, the Class upgraded the appearance of the central entrance to the Cadet Gymnasium providing paneling, display cabinets and pictures. The corridor provides access for cadets to the two large weight training rooms that are replacing the first floor boxing rooms that we remember so well.

10th Reunion Gift

In 1967, the Class donated a black granite fountain at the entrance to the Post Cemetery.  It still works!
