Election of New Class Officers

Classmates

As required by the Constitution (and because elections every so often help to keep things moving by stirring the pot), it is time for the Class to select new officers, who will serve from 30 days after the forthcoming reunion until thirty days after the 60th Reunion. As the first step in this process, the Class Executive Board has appointed a nominating committee that will propose candidates for the seven Class offices:  President, First Vice President, Second Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Scribe, and Information Systems Officer. The duties of these positions are described on the Class Web Site (www.usma1957.org) under the Constitution.

The nominating committee includes: Chair: Gerry Galloway; Members (Western US) Howie Haupt, Homer Johnstone; Members (Rockies) Ray Karsian, Jack Ellington; Members (South) Jerry Scott, Mike Keating; Members (East Coast) Don Whalen, (Gerry Galloway). While the nominating committee will offer a slate, any 12 graduates of the class may nominate an individual for an office; and, if the individual has agreed to serve if elected, his name will be placed on the ballot.  As a result there may be more than one candidate for each office. There will also be space on the ballot for a write-in for each office. All nominations (from groups of 12 members) must be sent to Gerry Galloway, as Chair of the Nominating Committee, to arrive NLT COB 9 March (river57@comcast.net OR 1267 S Oakcrest Rd, Arlington VA 22202.)

The Executive Board will announce the full slate on a ballot sent to Class members by postal or electronic mail on 21 March. The election will be held at the Class Business Meeting on Monday 21 May at the Woodcliff Lake Hilton.  Graduated Class members shall cast votes at the business meeting in person, or by absentee ballot submitted to reach the Class Secretary, Paul Schwehm, NLT COB 18 May.
